Tens of thousands of young women will face the hardest decision of their lives this year...

114,000 American kids are waiting to be adopted out of foster care...

Hundreds of thousands of orphans around the world are waiting for families to call their own...

NCFA has been a champion of adoption since its founding in 1980. Whether as an advocate for federal and state laws that promote sound adoption policy; a resource for the media, government officials, policymakers, adoption professionals, and the public; a diplomat for sound international adoption policy; or a source of adoption facts and education, the National Council For Adoption (NCFA) is devoted to serving the best interests of children through adoption.

NCFA promotes its agenda and positions through research, education, and communication. As an Adoption Advocate, you will
receive regular briefings and updates on adoption related news, legislation, international developments, and issues and activities from around the world.

Topics include:

  • Presenting adoption as a positive option for unplanned pregnancies
  • Acting as global adoption ambassador through international adoption advocacy
  • Promoting adoptions out of foster care through court and financing reforms
  • Finding families for foster kids through parent recruitment and private agencies
  • Upholding the adoptive family as the adopted person’s true and permanent family
  • Serving birthmothers through sound counseling
  • Making adoption more affordable through the tax credit
  • Protecting mutual consent and confidentiality in adoption
  • Making adoptions and birthmothers more secure through putative father registries
  • Protecting newborns and at-risk parents through Safe Havens
  • Being the authoritative nonprofit adoption information clearinghouse
  • Promoting adoption awareness and understanding through the media

These topics and many more are examined through regular, timely direct communication.
