Romanian Parliament approves draft law limiting intercountry adoption to a child’s grandparents

On June 15, the Romanian Chamber of Deputies approved a draft law that limits international adoption to a child’s grandparents. President Iliescu is expected to sign the draft. The US Department of State is seeking clarification about the law’s impact on adoptions not yet approved by the Romanian government but for which a referral has already been made.
