US Citizenship and Immigration Services

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) announced a new policy on November 21, by which CIS will automatically issue certificates of citizenship for foreign-born children whose adoptions by US parents are finalized in the sending country, without requiring a cumbersome application process. The former policy of automatically issuing green cards, while requiring parents to apply for certificates of citizenship, made for a slow process and caused frustrating delay.
