Beginning December 23rd, the Certificate of Citizenship fee for intercountry adoptions is doubling. The current cost for form N-600/N-600K is $550 for adoptive families. It will increase to $1,170 on 12/23. We encourage families who have not yet acquired a certificate of citizenship for their adopted child to ACT NOW. Review what is needed to complete the N-600/N-600K form and prepare to submit before the 12/23 deadline to take advantage of the lower cost.
When you submit, as with any form, be sure to keep a copy of all you send and confirmation of shipping to ensure you can prove you’ve acted within the required timeline to acquire this essential document before the price doubles. You may need to prove that your form was sent before 12/23 to receive the lower rate.
Why is the fee doubling? U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services proposed raising adoption filing fees earlier this year and our efforts to advocate against those fee increases were unsuccessful. In the future, we need your voice to advocate for adoption-related issues like this! Click here to sign up for our email advocacy alerts.
