Jane Castanias, JD

Jane Hutchinson Castanias was a trial attorney in Dallas, Texas, at the law firms of Johnson & Gibbs and Jones Day. Upon moving to Washington D.C. she has devoted her time to causes related to children. She currently serves NCFA as the Strategic Planning Coordinator, Development Committee Chair, and sits on the Executive Committee. She is a Board Member and former Chair of RESOLVE, a family-building organization that educates, supports, and advocates for those with infertility about their family building options, including adoption. She is the Past President of the National Capital Area Gladney Family Association, the local chapter of her family’s adoption agency, planning events and fundraisers; and also serves on Gladney’s National Council. With her husband, Gregory Castanias, Jane is the 2017 “Angel in Adoption” recipient for Virginia, awarded by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption. Both Jane and Greg have been recognized as an NCFA “Friend of Adoption.” She is a frequent speaker about adoption issues. Prior to becoming involved in adoption-related volunteer work, she was a Court Appointed Special Advocate, helping abused and neglected children during court proceedings for temporary removal from the home or for termination of parental rights, including working with the biological families, social services, and the foster care system.

Jane is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Political Science, and the University of Kansas School of Law. She is married to Gregory Castanias, a partner with Jones Day in Washington D.C. She has two daughters, both adopted from Texas. She and her family live in Oakton, Virginia.
